Tongren Eye eye clinic was founded as a church clinic in 1886 by Dr.Blue from US, which was developed to Beijing Tongren department later. On April 2002, Beijing Tongren Eye Center was established, consisting of

Clinical Ophthalmology department, Eye Institute, Blindness Preventing Office (Beijing WHO collaboration center), and Eye Bank. Tongren Eye Center has been granted as the national key discipline by the Ministry of Education. Tongren Eye Center is very actively in advocating cooperation and communication with other eye institutes in the world. Up to date, Tongren Eye Center has established cooperation with Chinese University of Hong Kong, Singapore National Eye Centre, Mount Sinai University (US), etc. Through these cooperations, Tongren Eye Center will definitely improve its academic excellence.

There are about 200 ophthalmologists in Tongren Eye Center. More than 300 beds are exclusively for eye care. Approximately 1,500 patients are received daily in the outpatient department. Approximately 30,000 surgeries are performed each year. Many famous ophthalmologists are good at glaucoma, ocular tumor, trauma, keratitis, neuro-ophthalmology, etc. In Tongren Eye Center, vitrectomy for choroidal melanoma, photodynamic therapy for choroidal neovascular, transpuillary thermotheraphy for retina

neovascular, are performed well as new technologies in eye treatment.

Beijing Ophthalmology consultation center was established in June 16th, 2000. The 46 consultants are recommended experts from 13 hospitals in Beijing. More than 2 experts

will be arranged according to the patient’s disease. The consultation center will help patient to make appointment with the experts, which is very convenient. Complicated eye disease, eye disease associated with ENT disease,stomatological disease,intracranial disease, etc, can be diagnosed and treated well in this consultation center.The nsultation fee is 300RMB per patient per time.Tongren Eye VIP clinic department is located in the first floor of the east building of Tongren Hospital, which can provide comfortable, nient and excellent eye care. There are 6 modern consultation rooms, examining rooms, treatment rooms, health education room, laser treatment room, etc. More than 50 famous lmologists work here.
